A book discussing how governance is
shaping tourism development across different countries
The tourism governance book is an idea that is born as part of the exchange of knowledge within the TSWG for the research of several scholars. The book project is incubated within the TSWG and receives mentorship, feedback, guidance from the group. We intend the project to benefit both scholars and professionals.
The book compares how tourism is shaped in different countries as a result of its governance system. Each chapter will be about one country describing its recent contemporarily tourism policies and how it is shaped. There will be a consistent outline (with some flexibility) so that each chapter may address the same issues, concerns, recommendations across wide range of countries from all over the world.
The book project started within the TSWG end of 2016 and continue to take place the fall of 2017 in Berkeley. The submissions of the authors is more or less half way and through the coming semester their contribution will be enhanced and developed further.
The book project cover wide range of countries. In alphabetical order: China - Cuba - Colombia - Ecuador - Egypt - Finland - France - Ghana - Italy - Kuwait - Mexico - Oman - Poland - Portugal - Spain - Thailand - Tunisia - Turkey - United Kingdom - United States. It brings lots of diverse opinions and contexts into a very unique discourse and it is extremely beneficial to other members of the academic community within the TSWG and beyond.
